Family Law Team - Terry Cooper
Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Terry has been practicing law for thirty-five years in Nova Scotia. A member of our Litigation Team, he also has experience in criminal, family, and real estate law.
Terry has made over a thousand appearances as counsel on hundreds of cases throughout Nova Scotia. He has conducted numerous arraignments, bail hearings, trials with and without juries, appeals to County Court, Supreme Court Trial and Appeal Division of the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia, sentences and applications, including those under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Terry has also appeared as counsel on various occasions before the former Municipal Board, the Liquor Licensing Board, the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board, the Nova Scotia Police Commission, the Human Rights Commission, and the former Motor Carrier Board, the Utility and Review Board, the Judicial Board, and others.
Notably, Terry co-founded the law firm of Cooper and McDonald after having been employed as a lawyer with the Nova Scotia Government.
